David “Tiger” Williams (Weyburn) –Tiger Williams is being inducted into the Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame as a Player.
Williams played his junior career in Saskatchewan with the Swift Current Broncos. In 1974 he was drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the second round, 32nd overall. In his 14 years in the NHL Williams played with 5 NHL teams – most notably the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Vancouver Canucks, where he spend the majority of his 962 games.
Williams was known as an enforcer in the NHL and has several records to prove it. He holds the NHL records for most Career Regular Season Penalty Minutes at 3,966 and most NHL penalty minutes during a career including playoffs with 4,421. Along with the NHL records he holds the Maple Leafs records for most playoff penalty minutes, 240, and most penalty minutes in one season by a left winger, 351. While with the Canucks he has the most playoff penalty minutes, 181, most penalty minutes in one playoff year, 116, and most penalty minutes in one playoff series, 51.
